Cannon basics

How do TUR cannons work?

Twist the base until you hear the pop β€” that's the whole operation. A sealed compressed-air chamber does the work and launches confetti, powder or streamers up to 25 feet. No fuse, no flame, no batteries, no setup.

Do I need a lighter or anything else to set them off?

Nope! TUR cannons are completely non-pyrotechnic. There's nothing to light and nothing to plug in β€” just twist and celebrate.

How high do they actually launch?

Up to 25 feet, depending on the cannon size and how you aim. For maximum height and the best photos, hold the cannon at roughly a 45Β° angle, pointing up and away from people.

What's the difference between confetti, powder and streamer cannons?

Confetti gives you that classic slow-falling shower β€” the most photogenic all-rounder. Color powder creates a big, dramatic cloud of color, which is what you want for reveals and photo shoots. Streamers launch long paper ribbons and are the easiest cleanup of the three, since you just pick them up.

How many cannons do I need for my party?

A good rule of thumb: one cannon per person for a group send-off, or 2–4 cannons for a single focal moment like a gender reveal or cake cutting. For weddings, most couples hand one to each guest lining the exit. When in doubt, order a few extra β€” nobody has ever regretted having one more.

Can I set off several at the same time?

Absolutely, and it looks incredible. Count down out loud so everyone twists together, and have everyone aim in the same general direction so your photographer catches the full burst.

How long do they last in storage?

Store them upright somewhere cool and dry and they'll stay ready for years. Avoid hot cars, damp garages and direct sun β€” heat and humidity are the only real enemies of a sealed cannon.

Safety & indoor use

Are TUR cannons safe to use indoors?

Confetti and streamer cannons are β€” they run on compressed air with no flame, fuse or pyrotechnics, so venues and planners generally welcome them indoors. Powder cannons are best kept outdoors, since the color creates an airborne cloud.

Always point away from faces and ceilings, and keep a little distance from light fixtures and sprinkler heads.

Are they safe around kids?

TUR cannons are designed for adults to operate. Children can absolutely be part of the moment, but an adult should do the twisting, and kids should be supervised and standing clear of the launch direction.

Will they set off a smoke alarm or sprinkler?

Our confetti and streamer cannons produce no smoke and no heat, so they won't trigger a smoke detector. Color powder creates a visible cloud that could theoretically be mistaken for smoke by a very sensitive optical detector β€” another reason we recommend keeping powder outdoors.

Are these the same as smoke bombs?

No, and this is an important difference. TUR powder cannons launch colored cornstarch powder with compressed air β€” not burning smoke. You get the dramatic color-burst look photographers love with no flame and no pyrotechnics, which is why they're legal and shippable in places where smoke products often aren't.

Can I bring them on a plane?

We don't recommend it. Because they contain a pressurized chamber, airlines typically treat them as prohibited in both carry-on and checked bags. Ship them to your destination instead β€” that's what most destination-wedding couples do.

Is the color powder safe on skin and clothes?

Our color powder is a non-toxic, cornstarch-based formula, the same family of product used at color runs and Holi festivals. It brushes off skin and hair easily and washes out of most fabrics, but as with any pigment we'd suggest not wearing your most delicate white heirloom for a powder shoot.

Do venues usually allow them?

Most do, especially once you explain they're non-pyrotechnic compressed air. Many venues specifically require biodegradable confetti for outdoor use β€” which we make. Always clear it with your venue first, and ask whether they require biodegradable material.

What's inside & cleanup

Is the confetti really biodegradable?

Many of our lines are. Our biodegradable confetti and color powder break down naturally with rain and time. Our metallic and streamer lines are not biodegradable. Every product page lists exactly what's inside, so you can match the cannon to your venue's rules.

How long does biodegradable confetti take to break down?

Outdoors with some moisture, typically a few days to a couple of weeks. Several customers have told us that after a rain they couldn't find a trace of it on the ground.

How messy is cleanup?

Easier than you'd think. Streamers are the simplest β€” you just gather them up. Confetti sweeps or vacuums up indoors, and biodegradable confetti outdoors can often be left to break down naturally. Color powder outdoors settles and washes away with the next rain.

What is the color powder made of?

A cornstarch base with non-toxic cosmetic-grade colorant. It's the same category of powder used in color runs and Holi celebrations.

Are the cannon tubes recyclable?

The tube body is cardboard and recyclable in most municipal programs once it's empty. The base cap is plastic and should be checked against your local guidelines.

Do you offer plastic-free options?

Yes β€” our biodegradable paper confetti lines are the ones to look for. If you need a fully plastic-free celebration for a nature venue or beach, email us and we'll point you at the right SKUs.

Gender reveals

Will the color stay a surprise?

Yes! Reveal cannons are sealed and color-concealed, so nobody β€” including you β€” can see what's inside. Hand the sealed cannons to your party and let everyone find out at the same moment.

Should I pick powder or confetti for a reveal?

Powder gives you the huge, cinematic cloud of color that fills a photo β€” it's the more dramatic choice and the one most reveal photos you've seen online are using. Confetti gives a longer, gentler shower that's easier to use in tighter spaces and won't dust anyone. Plenty of couples use both.

Can someone else order so we don't know the color?

That's a very popular approach. Have a friend or family member place the order and keep the packing slip. Since the cannons are color-concealed, even the person handing them out won't spoil it.

What if it's windy on the day?

Wind is the one thing that can shorten a powder reveal β€” the color disperses fast. Position everyone so the wind carries color away from the camera, launch with the wind rather than into it, and consider confetti or streamers as a backup if the forecast looks rough.

Do you have cannons for twins or a surprise-to-everyone reveal?

Yes β€” many customers buy multiple reveal cannons so several family members can pop simultaneously, and we've had plenty of twin reveals where two colors go up at once. Order a couple of extras so you have room to play.

Weddings & big events

Are TUR cannons good for a wedding send-off?

They're one of our most popular uses. Hand one to each guest lining your exit, count down, and you get a full tunnel of confetti for the photos. Our biodegradable lines are the ones to choose for outdoor and garden venues.

Which confetti looks best in wedding photos?

White and ivory read beautifully against greenery and stone. Gold and rose gold catch the light and photograph warmly at golden hour. Butterfly-cut confetti falls slower, which gives your photographer more time to catch the shot.

Can we use them for a first dance or grand entrance?

Yes, and indoors it's a great fit since confetti and streamer cannons are non-pyrotechnic. Coordinate with your DJ or coordinator so the pop lands on the beat, and let your venue know in advance.

Do you do bulk or event quantities?

We do. For large events, weddings with big guest counts, or anything you'd call a bulk order, get in touch through our wholesale page and we'll sort out pricing and timing with you.

How far in advance should we order for a wedding?

We'd suggest ordering 2–3 weeks out for a wedding. Shipping is usually much faster than that, but wedding timelines have enough moving parts already β€” having them sitting in a closet early is one less thing to think about.

Photography & color powder

What camera settings work best?

Fast shutter speed is the key β€” 1/1000s or faster freezes individual confetti pieces and the leading edge of a powder cloud. Shoot in burst mode, since the peak of the burst lasts under a second. Backlighting the cloud makes the color glow.

Can I use color powder for a photo shoot or color run?

That's exactly what our color powder line is built for. It gives you a vivid, controllable burst without the flame or shipping restrictions that come with smoke products.

How do I protect my camera gear?

Powder is fine dust, so treat it like a beach shoot: use a lens filter, keep a rain sleeve or plastic cover on the body, avoid changing lenses on location, and stand upwind of the burst. Wipe gear down before packing it away.

What time of day photographs best?

Golden hour, without much competition. Low, warm side-light makes powder and confetti glow and separates it from the background. Overcast midday is the safe fallback β€” flat light, no harsh shadows.

Shipping & orders

How fast is shipping?

Free US shipping on every order. We process orders within 1–2 business days, and standard delivery is typically 3–7 business days after that. If you're planning around a specific date, order about two weeks ahead to be safe.
